Percy Jackson is a great twist on the Greek (and, later on, Roman) gods. Percy's a New York teenager, supposedly having ADD and a couple of other disorders. But his life changes once he... Turns his pre-algebra teacher to dust?

Percy's just a normal 14 year old. He doesn't know that he's the son of a god. So what happens when his math teacher turns into an evil bat with a craving for Percy? He splits her/it in two, of course. Poof! Dust. Percy's sword is now a pen. He thinks it's a dream, but his friend is a terrible liar. He finds out, although nobody else even knows the teacher's name! She was replaced instantly by a blonde Percy has never seen before. Percy doesn't tell his mom, and when they start off for the beach, the fatal mistake is shoved into motion. Grover knocks on the cabin door in the middle of a hurricane, and Percy's mom is terrified- He says, "It followed me!" She runs to the car- her 'husband' Gabe's prize Camaro- and floors it. There's a soggy shape in the rearview. Not quite human. Just then, lightning strikes the roof of the car, and Percy's world goes upside-down.

I would DEFINITELY recommend this book. Trading card enthusiasts, perk up: a new chance for your own new cards. No idea. If you like mystery, fantasy and suspense, jump in.
